Biography
Brenda Simmons Stephenson was appointed as full-time lecturer at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville in 1988, following five years’ service in a part-time adjunct status. Brenda taught at the Tennessee School for the Deaf (TSD) for 12 years and as principal of the elementary school at TSD for 11 years. During her time at UT, Brenda taught and mentored numerous teacher education candidates in Deaf Education and Special Education and was involved in grant-funded projects related to serving individuals who are deaf and hard of hearing.
