Brenda is a senior lecturer in the program for Deaf Education. Prior to coming to UT she taught at Tennessee School for the Deaf in Knoxville, Tennessee for twelve years and was the Elementary Principal for eleven years. She began her career at the University of Tennessee by serving as an adjunct professor for five years. She became a full time faculty member in 1998.

Ms. Stephenson teaches courses in speech development, psychology of deafness, and practicum classes. She also supervises the graduate internship. She has been involved in grant work at both the state and federal level. She has published articles about best practices in deaf education.
