Frances K. Harper, assistant professor of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) / mathematics education, was selected as a Fellow for The Center for Inquiry and Equity in Mathematics 2019-2020 fellowship program. The fellowship is for mathematics teacher education faculty who teach either elementary or secondary pre-service teachers. This National Science Foundation funded fellowship includes a summer and academic year component. Fellows participate in a summer institute in Pittsburgh in August 2019, in which they reflect on and strategize how to support pre-service teachers to attend to mathematics and equity. During the school year, Fellows partner with mathematicians from the Mathematicians of Color Alliance to give pre-service teachers an opportunity to talk about mathematics and reconsider who does mathematics.
